Fuse RI is a grant-funded program run by the Highlander Institute that offers pro bono blended learning consultancy services to Rhode Island district and charter administrative teams. Fuse RI leverages the talents and excitement of statewide educators through a fellowship program that prepares them for future leadership roles in blended learning. Each spring, the Institute selects Fuse RI fellows from a pool of statewide applicants and trains them to become blended learning change agents. Fellows are paired and mobilized for a two-year consultancy engagement in a Fuse RI district or charter that is not their own. Through this work, Fuse RI is building cross-district collaboration and communication as well as supporting the advancement of blended learning districts and leaders across the state.
In 2014, our first cohort of 24 Fuse Fellows supported blended initiatives in 12 diverse RI districts. In 2015, an additional 12 Fuse Fellows were partnered with 6 districts. The combined efforts of our Institute team, Fuse Fellows, and partner districts have spurred the development of blended learning frameworks, classroom walkthrough rubrics, and a host of playlists to help RI administrators understand, identify, and scale blended learning classrooms across their districts.
